Project Data Collection - Install Guide

Last Updated: Jul 23, 2018 06:25AM PDT

Summary: This article provides instructions for installing the Project Data Component Collection.

Prerequisites

Requirements for installing the Project Data Component Collection include the following:

  • The target on-premise Pipeline Pilot server should be version 9.5 or later, for either Windows or Linux.
  • It is strongly recommended that you shut down the Pipeline Pilot server before installing. If the server is running, the installation process will succeed, but the process will take longer.
  • Ensure that you are logged into the server machine as a user with Administration rights.
  • Before using this Project Data Component Collection, be aware that you already should have ScienceCloud credentials. The components in this collection are used solely to query and update your projects in ScienceCloud.

Downloading the ZIP file

To download the ZIP file, do the following:

  1. Download the zip file containing the software to a temporary location on the server file system. All packages are available from ScienceCloud home page by clicking on Sandbox Developer (be prepared to provide valid ScienceCloud credentials). If you do not see Sandbox Developer on your ScienceCloud homepage, e-mail biovia.support@3ds.com and request that ScienceCloud Support add the Sandbox Developer application for your team and for yourself.

Manually Installing

To manually install the Project Data Collection API:

  1. Open a Windows Command Prompt as an Administrator.
  2. Change the directory to the /bin folder for your Pipeline Pilot server installation.
  3. (Stringly recommended!) Stop the Pipeline Pilot server by typing:
    AEPManager.exe -k stop

Tip: Alternatively, run the Windows Services Management Console and stop the server.

  4. Uninstall the scicloud software by running:
    pkgutil -u scicloud
  5. Change the directory to the folder:
    apps/scicloud
  6. Unless this is a first-time installation for the Project Data collection, delete the following subfolders:
  • score
  • scprojectdata
  • scprojectdatav2
  • scnotifications
  • scremoterun
  • projectdocuments
  1. Uncompress the zip file into a temporary folder.
  2. Copy the unzipped folders in scicloud to apps/scicloud to replace the ones that were deleted.
  3. Change the directory to the folder:
    bin
  4. If you did NOT stop the server, run:
    pkgutil -i scicloud
  5. If you DID stop the server, run:
    pkgutil -i scicloud -batched
  6. If you stopped the server, restart by typing:
    AEPManager.exe -k start

Tip: Alternatively, run the Windows Services Management Console and restart the server.
